Claudia Mattos
Associate Curator
Claudia Mattos is Associate Curator at the Moody Center for the Arts, where she works on exhibitions, public programs, and the Rice Public Art Collection. She is a 2026 Research Fellow with Visual AIDS, New York. Prior to joining the Moody, Mattos served as Associate Curator of New Media Art at The Bass Museum of Art, Miami Beach, where she curated exhibitions and commissions of new media and moving image works. Previously, she was Assistant Curator of Media Arts and Live Events at The Baltimore Museum of Art, and held positions at Performa, New York, and Locust Projects, Miami. She has also contributed to exhibition development, research, and writing at institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art, Independent Curators International, and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami.
From 2020 to 2023, Mattos served as Director at David Castillo Gallery, Miami. There, she led exhibitions and art fair presentations, and supported gallery artists in the development and coordination of museum exhibitions. Mattos has held Curator- and Researcher-in-Residence positions internationally, including at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul. She earned an MA with Distinction in Art History from The Courtauld Institute of Art and a BA magna cum laude in Art History from Cornell University.
