Photographer and Rice University professor of visual arts Geoff Winningham (b. 1943) will present a selection of images from his newest photography of the Houston city landscape. Winningham has been photographing the landscape of Houston continuously since the early 1980’s. In 1986, in recognition of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the city, Rice University Press published his book A Place of Dreams: Houston, An American City.  In 2001, the Texas State Historical Association published Along Forgotten River, his book of photographs of the landscape along Buffalo Bayou and the Houston Ship Channel.

In 2018, the Houston Arts Alliance awarded Winningham a grant in support of his ongoing photography of the city. For this exhibition, he will present a set of photographs from his newest project, Changing Houston. Taken over the past year, these photographs document changing elements and interaction of both the natural and the man-made landscape of the city.

Join us for the opening at The Rie University BioScience Research Collaborative on December 17th at 5:00 - 6:00 pm.
