DREAMING OF AFRAM
An Evening with Lisa E. Harris
On November 28th, guests joined the Moody and the Center for Environmental Studies for a presentation by and conversation with Lisa E. "Li" Harris, an interdisciplinary artist, filmmaker, creative soprano, performer/composer, improviser, writer, singer/songwriter, researcher, cultural producer, and 2022 Guggenheim Fellow from Houston, Texas. Harris shared work-in-progress from her Ballroom Marfa residency, and discussed her work collaborating with artists from around the state.
Li's work focuses on the energetic relationships between body, land, spirit, and place. She uses voice, theremin, electronics, movement, improvisation, meditation, and new media to explore healing in performance and living. Li is trained as a classical voice/opera singer and performs across a wide range of genres and mediums.
