Closing Reception for Off the Wall: Sondra Perry, Ocean Modifier
Temporary Public Art | With Musical Guests Daleton & Brandon Lee
On September 2nd, guests joined the Moody in commemorating the work of Sondra Perry (b.1986, Perth Amboy, New Jersey), whose monumental Ocean Modifier closed its year-long installation at the Raymond and Susan Brochstein Pavilion. A performance by acclaimed jazz musicians Daleton and Brandon Lee complemented the celebration of this powerful work.
The Off the Wall series is a partnership between the Rice Public Art program, facilitated by the Moody Center for the Arts, and the Core Residency Program at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s Glassell School of Art. This collaboration supports commissions of site specific installations by recent alumnus or alumna of the Core program. Each installation remains on view for one year on the south wall of the Raymond and Susan Brochstein Pavilion. Off the Wall: Sondra Perry is organized by Ylinka Barotto, Associate Curator, Moody Center for the Arts. This program is made possible by Raymond and Susan Brochstein, Deborah Brochstein and Steven Hecht.
