Closing Celebration for "Narrative Threads"
Summer 2022 | Craft Collab with Contemporary Handweavers of Houston and Quilt Guild of Greater Houston
On May 13th, guests saw the exhibition for the first time or visited one last time! Saturday, May 13 was the last day to enjoy Narrative Threads: Fiber Art Today. Guests were able to enjoy $5 parking!
From 2 pm to 5 pm, guests enjoyed an afternoon of treats, hands-on activities, and a special screening of the film, Yarn. Schedule below.
Hands-On Activities
2 pm - 4:45 pm | Flex Space
Led by the Contemporary Handweavers of Houston and the Quilt Guild of Greater Houston, guests will be able to:
- Weave a bookmark or bracelet
- Create a greeting card with fabric
- Learn about the process of weaving, spinning, and quilting
- Special demonstrations on a loom and spinning wheel
A Screening of Yarn (2016)
2 pm and 3:30 pm | Lois Chiles Studio Theater
A screening of Yarn (2016), a colorful documentary directed by the Icelandic filmmaker Una Lorenzen featuring the vibrant range of fiber-based practices as seen through the lens of artists, designers, and performers.
