Breath of Life, music by J. Todd Frazier and libretto by Michael Remson, is an opera inspired by an early heart transplant performed in Houston, Texas. Premiering at the Moody Center for the Arts, this two-act performance explores an advancement in medicine alongside the ethical and spiritual challenges of a transformative procedure that requires the death of one person to save another. 

In addition to Fraizer and Remson the artistic team includes Kelli Estes, Robert Hunt, Mark Lewis, Jim Elliot, Alicia Moore Chew, Patrick Moore, and Ernesto Vega. You can learn more about the cast, led by John Arnold, Cassandra Black, Dominique McCormick, Emily Schuck, and Jaun Garza, here. 

Performances in the Moody's Lois Chiles Studio Theater are on June 27, 7:30 -9:30 pm; June 28, 7:30 -9:30 pm; and on June 29 2:30 - 6:30 pm featuring a special guest panel and reception. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased through Lone Star Lyric via the registration button on this page.
