Bird Walk with Cin-Ty Lee
Fall 2021 | Walk with Special viewing of Laure Provoust exhibition
Join the Moody Center for the Arts and Houston Audubon for a special bird walk through Rice's campus organized in conjunction with the Moody’s fall exhibition Laure Prouvost: Above Front Tears Nest in South.
Documented by students, faculty, and guests, Rice's lush tree canopy and diverse flora have attracted more than 260 species of birds! Cin-Ty Lee, the Harry Carothers Wiess Professor of Geology and Chair, Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences, will lead guests as they walk through this important migratory stopover. The walk will take place during the peak of sparrow migration, participants should expect to see a wide variety of sparrows and possibly some late-migrating warblers. The 1.5-hour walk will conclude with coffee + cookies as well as a viewing of the exhibition Laure Prouvost: Above Front Tears Nest in South where you might spot even more flying creatures.
The event is open to seasoned birders and beginners and will also give participants the chance to observe plants, amphibians, and other wildlife on campus.
Schedule:
8 am: Meet at the Moody Center for the Arts. As a guided group, participants will walk to the Owl Deck at Intramural Field 6, between the Tudor Field House and Wiess College, followed by a circuit around Harris Gully Natural Area.
9:30 am: Finish at the Moody with coffee and cookies and an exclusive viewing of the exhibition Laure Prouvost: Above Front Tears Nest in South
